GUEST CHEF
Cara Silverman
My name is Cara and I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. My grandmother and great grandmother were clay sculptors and my uncle was a painter. When I was a small child of three years old, my family lost our home in a hurricane. In order to help me to understand what had happened, my uncle constructed a small 3-D house out of cardboard and spent time with me painting one side the way it looked before the hurricane; nice and pristine and the other side was destroyed, the house blown away. It’s no wonder that as an adult I became an artist myself, working for years as a textile artist with ancient techniques and crafts of weaving, embroidery, and crochet. I then transitioned into forging metal, goldsmithing and stone setting; and worked as a jeweler for a number of years. Most recently I have made my way into the culinary world and have been working as a pastry chef and event organizer for the past four years. Food is a big passion of mine, and fresh, seasonal ingredients are my most treasured materials, ephemeral as they may be.
