SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION

The Park Slope Food Coop cooking class is looking for social media help! We are currently looking for a social media savvy person to support our squad’s Instagram efforts and define the voice and vision for @foodcoopcooks; this is an ad hoc role eligible for FTOP hours with the potential to take on other social media and marketing projects and squad tasks longer term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and build a social media strategy for @foodcoopcooks Instagram to grow existing community and increase engagement, particularly cooking class RSVPs.
  • Create and oversee an editorial calendar, work with existing squad members to ideate, make, and schedule engaging general content and to promote virtual – and potentially in-person – cooking classes.
  • Help create coop specific versions of content with monthly instructor e.g. reels of instructors shopping in the coop, selecting ingredients, commenting on selections, etc.
    Partner with instructors on promotion strategy in the lead up to classes, including drafting posts and stories to be shared by the main @foodcoop Instagram account
    Moderate comments, engage relevant accounts and neighborhood groups, respond to DMs.
  • Use metrics and analytics to make data-driven decisions with team and community interest.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated professional experience strategically managing social media accounts campaigns, with a track record of building engagement and interacting with audiences
  • An understanding of digital and social media best practices, trends in interactive and digital storytelling, and operational knowledge across multiple social media platforms, especially on Instagram
  • Ability to write and edit copy clearly and concisely with a distinct voice
  • Responsive and team-oriented with a high level of autonomy to take initiative independently, communicate effectively and meet deadlines
  • Creative, forward-thinking entrepreneurial mindset with well developed organizational skills
  • Collaborative, growth-oriented attitude to direct, support and encourage work by others (ex: if another squad member films an interview, this role might edit and publish videos created)
  • Ability to deliver and implement informed, constructive, and respectful feedback with low defensiveness
  • An interest in food, home cooking, food education, the coop and its products, and/or community building.
